August 1941. The Border Service Dog School is on the front line. Together with the military, civilians also come under attack: the doctor Kira (Maria Andreeva) and her little daughter Liza. The commander of the border school Shevtsov (Nikolai Machulsky) realizes that the forces are unequal and tries to send Kira, with whom he is secretly in love, and her daughter Lisa to the rear.
