The denim miniskirt is making a comeback at Paris Fashion Week. Before attending the Miu Miu show on Tuesday, Camila Mendes posed outside the venue wearing a head-to-toe look by the designer. The “Riverdale” actor was dressed in a belted low-rise jean skirt with floral embellishments, which she paired with a cropped, crisp white button-down, also decorated with similar adornments.
Styled by Molly Dickson, Mendes carried a signature matelassé leather minibag and wore velvet platform sandals for a playful yet sleek look. “Had a mini moment for @miumiu ,” she captioned photos and videos of her stylish ensemble. Along with Mendes, familiar faces like Kaitlyn Dever, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ella Emhoff graced the front row.
The preppy micro mini from the brand’s previous collection has taken the world by storm, with the teeny pleated skirt appearing on various magazine covers, spreads, celebrities, and memes alike. An Instagram account was even created to memorialize the @miumiuset. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Miu Miu reinvented the same skirt for its latest season, albeit in different fabrics and sportier styles. Mendes’s iteration was also sans pleats and made with denim, though it still slung just as low on the waistline.
The actor isn’t the only one bringing back the nostalgic piece this fashion month. Versace’s fall 2022 show in Milan debuted micro miniskirts in tweed, pinstripes, and, of course, denim. “Bling Empire” star and fashion influencer Jaime Xie attended the Off-White show in Paris wearing a denim mini in a dark wash with a cropped shearling jacket, while TikToker Avani dressed in a flared jean skort and matching jacket for the Givenchy presentation a few days ago. The truth is, jean skirts are forever in style. See further proof ahead.
