The continuation of the costume melodrama is released on world screens on April 29
Playing the role of Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, British actress Elizabeth McGovern attracted admiring glances as she appeared on the red carpet at the premiere of Downton Abbey: New Era at the Gaumont Marignan cinema in Paris on Tuesday.

The 60-year-old actress looked the epitome of sophistication in a Dior total look in pale beige: a beaded dress with a pleated midi-length skirt, suede mules with buckles, and a classic gold-decorated handbag. At the photocall, Elizabeth was joined by her on-screen “daughter” – actress Laura Carmichael, who plays the role of Lady Grantham’s daughter – Edith Pelham, in the franchise.
A New Era is a sequel to Downton Abbey (2019), a sequel to the popular TV series that grossed $194.6 million, proving that Crowley’s aristocratic story also looks great on the big screen.
The trailer begins with the news that Lady Violet Crawley, played by the irresistible Maggie Smith, informs the relatives: “I have become the owner of a villa in the south of France …”. Around the same time, a film crew invades the abbey to film a film about famous aristocrats in a family setting, and so the whole family is excited to head to the Riviera to explore the mansion of the Dowager Countess of Grantham, left as a gift by a mysterious admirer.

The film takes place in the 1930s, while the original series covered the period from 1912 to 1926, and the first feature film depicted what happened in 1927. The sequel was directed by Simon Curtis (“Goodbye Christopher Robin”). Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Maggie Smith, and Imelda Staunton return to their roles in the project. They were joined by the unfading handsome Dominic West as a Hollywood actor of the 1920s, Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Natalie Bye, and others.
