With every breath Diddy takes, he’s sending out some serious cash Sting‘s way!!
On Twitter Wednesday, rapper Sean Combs dropped a bombshell when he replied to a tweet where the 71-year-old rocker said in a recent interview he’ll owe him $2,000 per day “for the rest of his life” — all for sampling a song without permission! In case you don’t remember, I’ll Be Missing You, Diddy and Faith Evans‘ 1997 tribute to the late The Notorious B.I.G., features a sample from The Police classic Every Breath You Take.
Sting said in the clip he and the 53-year-old are actually “good friends now” so there’s no drama between the two — but he’s still taking the money! LOLz!

But the number he quoted isn’t quite right, according to Coming Home rapper! While quote tweeting the original clip, he wrote:
“Nope. 5K a day. Love to my brother @OfficialSting!”
Whoa! Five thousand bucks per day!? To put it in perspective, that’s $150,000 a month or $1.8 MILLION per year. Wild! We can’t believe the song made so many in royalties!
Ch-ch-check out the tweet (below):

It’s good to hear Diddy and Sting are buddies now despite that big payment! The Bad Boy For Life rapper definitely learned his lesson about copyright and sampling the hard way. Reactions, Perezcious readers?
