Jamie Lynn Spears is opening up about her big sis.
As Perezcious readers know, the Spears fam has been in shambles for several years… From Britney’s conservatorship, to her estrangement from her parents and sister, to Jamie Lynn’s memoir, Things I Should Have Said — which caused an even BIGGER rift between the celeb siblings — things have been tough.

However, we know that Brit made amends with her mother Lynne back in May, and the 68-year-old apparently was apparently “begging” her daughters to reconcile… and it seemed like they made a major first step to doing exactly that! Last month, the Toxic singer posted a video on Instagram alongside her hubby Sam Asghari of their day out on a boat, but the real meat of the upload was in the caption. She revealed that she actually went to go meet Jamie Lynn “on set” just a week prior to her post! She wrote:
“It was nice to visit my sister on set last week !!! I’ve missed you guys so much !!! Loyal girls stay home but it’s so nice to visit family”
Since then, word on their relationship has been mum, but now, the Zoey 101 alum is opening up.
During an interview with Variety posted Wednesday, Jamie Lynn was asked about her current relationship with the Circus singer, and she had the following to say:
“I have nothing but absolute love for every single one of my family members. If I learned anything from last year, being so open and feeling like I had to defend myself at times, I don’t feel like there’s anything else that I need to say. I just have to leave it where it is because those conversations are meant to be personal. All I can focus on now is my girls, my husband and the work that I’m doing.”
It sounds like she was really affected by everything that went down last year around the release of her memoir. If you don’t remember, Britney called her little sis “scum” and claimed she was “lying through her teeth,” and even ordered a cease and desist! As for how it impacted Jamie Lynn, she said it all “makes [her] sad.” She explained:
“I don’t want my daughter to feel that way. So I have to say I will absolutely not allow my children — especially my oldest daughter, who was very affected by all of it — I will not allow her to feel this way in her life. My strength is out of the love for my children and wanting to make sure that I don’t give way to anything other than what I know to be authentic and true. It was hard, but at the end of the day, look where I am now.”
She has a very roundabout way of answering things… Maybe to not provoke Britney any further, especially if they’re in the midst of reconciling.
The 32-year-old also shared the advice she gives her eldest daughter Maddie, 15, when kids at school ask about her “Aunt Britney.” She explained:
“I say, ‘You should be so proud. Look at what your family’s done and accomplished. We came from a small town, and now everybody’s fascinated by the good and, especially, the bad. But look at what an example of a strong female you have. You have something to be proud of, and you should have pride in that.’ And kids are kids, so I’m sure there’s a lot meaner things that they’re doing to each other in high school.”

Honestly, great advice. We’ll just have to see how the celeb sisters’ relationship continues to play out. Maybe Brit will touch on it in her upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me, due out in October.
