Twitter went ablaze as soon as @LakeShowYo shared a side-to-side comparison of two plays sidecourt from the Warriors vs Rockets game captioned: One was called a foul… One was not. This tweet promptly exploded and saw a lot of basketball fans getting emotionally caught up over the officiating calls.

It’s an ongoing argument that heated up very fast. Some people like Manish Baruah took the road less traveled saying, “I am used to losing to warriors for a decade. I have learned a lot.” But the rest were not that cool with it. User dszy_ bluntly told LakeShowYo to, “focus on your team fatty,” while FREEDURK__ just came through with the troll, saying, “You are down 3-1 tf u talking for.”
Despite the fact that the foul happened in a rather crucial part of Game 4 between the Golden State and Houston, some fans viewed this as mere pathetic officiating favoring the Warriors, with ronssss56 going, “refs made those trash ass warriors got some free Free Throws.” Z, however, rebutted, “Rockets shot 55 FTA last 2 games Warriors shot 37 in San Francisco lmao. Rockets didn’t get robbed of anything.”
Technical Capt. LeMERICA down with an explanation: ‘Not exactly sure what the rule is but I know you can have your arm on them while they backing you down.’ Q’s Touch called it a make-up call: ‘Whether he touched him or not at the end doesn’t matter because all game Sengun was rewarded for an elbow into the defenders.’
In fact, even some replies had nothing to do with basketball. BIGDUBPICK would randomly ask, ‘AINT you like ugly In real life or something?’ and ‘Get a job stinky!’ with a meme afterwards. A classic Twitter case right there.
Then, there were those who acknowledged the Warriors’ advantage but still could not live with the call. John, for example, would admit, ‘I had money on the warriors but have to admit this was a shady ass foul.’ SOLUCAN X went on to compliment Rockets big man Alperen Sengun for “fighting in every game like Zeus.”
With the argument still raging on, one thing becomes apparent: there will always be something to fuss about when talking NBA refereeing. Whether it’s Warriors’ privilege or simply a call that was inconsistent, fans will never stop raging these debates until the next time there is a suspect whistle blown. Trailing 3-1, that would not stop fans from being heard in the electronic world.

Every sport is emotional. The teams get energy, money, and time. Those emotions are unleashed when calls go the other way. Some channel stats. Others just call everybody fat. Twitter being like that. The series will probably end with a Warriors win, but this foul will be there in NBA Twitter lore forever.
