After 14 years of marriage, Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict are going their separate ways.
Tia made the emotional announcement on her personal Instagram account earlier today, saying that “these decisions are never easy.”
“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different,” Tia wrote in her caption. “I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways.”
The two share two children together, their 11-year-old son Cree and their 4-year-old daughter Cairo. Tia and Cory plan to “maintain a friendship” as they coparent their kids.
“I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives,” Tia concluded.
A recent TMZ report revealed Tia filed for divorce today, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. According to the documents, Tia is asking the judge for joint physical and legal custodies of their children. The couple also has a prenup in place.
Cory met Tia back in 1999 doing odd jobs as a struggling actor in Los Angeles, while she was coming off the success of Sister, Sister. They dated for six years and eventually married on April 20, 2008.
Before sharing the news of her divorce, Tia posted this cryptic quote about moving on:
Cory has yet to make a public statement about his divorce, but we wish these two nothing but the best as they begin their new journey apart.
