We have a Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 12 Review here if you need it.

But alas, let’s get into a scene-by-scene recap of all the fun, crazy things happening at Grey Sloan Memorial.

Let’s get into it!

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

It’s another fun day with all the kids at Mer’s house as she and Amelia prepare for their meeting about a grant, and Nick gives some advice. Zola takes particular interest in their presentation and what they were discussing, before Amelia and Mer head out.

Jolink is having a happy morning, rolling around in the sack and talking about their wedding. Jo wants a small one where it’s just their family. Link wonders if she really just wants to head to the courthouse. He doesn’t seem pleased by that idea, and has Link ever actually had a wedding? The dude really wants a freaking wedding!

Blue is having a great time presenting Molly with a grand breakfast of shrimp cocktails and other things, and he still wants to help her remember. They’re having a great time until her ex, Dave, calls again, and things get tense between them.

This is messy, but it was always going to be this way. Did Molly really break up with Dave, or is she just ignoring him?

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

Towen leaves their therapy session arguing with each other. I thought therapy was supposed to help them get along, not cause more bickering.

For some dumb reason, Owen is upset that their therapist brought up the idea of an open marriage since they both acknowledged being attracted to other people. Teddy has to reassure him that she loves him and no one else.

I guess the road to Towen Polamory is going to take a while. Unfortuante.

The interns notice that new interns are arriving, and Bailey tells them that they’re going to be second years now and puts a late Blue on scut.

Lucas is working alongside Bailey treating a woman whose kids are worried about her. Meanwhile, Simone is working with Webber on a woman named Anna, but she keeps getting distracted by Bailey’s patient as if she’s noticing something no one else is.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

Amelia and Mer are presenting their work to a panel, but they’re dismissed because someone else is doing the same thing. They head to the next room and face Koracick and his newest protege, who is trying to get a grant for the same thing and claims he’s the only one who has made some breakthrough discovery.

Koracick is an ass, but he’s always hilarious despite that. This is going to be fun. Mer and Amelia don’t think so, though, since he has the entire FOX foundation at his disposal but, for some reason, wants this grant money, too.

Jo has a nice married couple who bicker but are overdue in their delivery.

Simone thinks Lucas’ patient has a rare cancer based on the recent allergies that she developed, and she talks to Lucas about it before focusing on getting an exam for her. But is she leaving her own patient hanging?

Beltran is back and working on a patient.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

When she sees the ring, Teddy congratulates Jo on getting engaged. She asks about the wedding and setting a date, but Jo says they’re debating that. Teddy shares that they’ll do better than her and Owen, and Jo low-key shades Towen for being a hot mess.

She isn’t wrong!

The two enter Jo’s patient’s room, hoping to have a consult, but she and her husband are having sex in order to induce labor, and it’s awkward as hell. Also, he falls off the bed in surprise, lands on his back, and most definitely flashes Teddy and Jo his babymaking stick.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

Everyone gets it on at Grey Sloan Memorial! Now he’s admitted to the hospital, too, because he has pain in his tailbone. The embarrassment!

Simone consults with Jules about her patient and the whole bananas and menopause thing, and she tells Simone about being on a case with her one-night stand who got mad at her for jumping to someone else and Beltran knowing about it.

Mer confides in Nickc about how frustrated she is with Koracick for making more headway in her research because he has all the funds for it. He doesn’t have the same passion or investment that she does because he’s never had personal experience with it.

Initially, Bailey and Webber are put off that Simone did testing on another patient without asking, but Bailey sees that it confirms a tumor. As a reward, Simone gets to take out by herself. Her first solo surgery with whomever she chooses to scrub in with her.

Jules is worried that Belran will want her off the service for sleeping with Beltran’s ex, but Beltran doesn’t seem to care about any of that.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

Simone wants Jules with her, but she and Lucas are stuck on their case, so she’ll be scrubbing in with Blue. They tend to rock when they’re on case together, so works for me!

Actually, n evermind. He spends all of their prep taim talking about Molly and trying to get Simione to talk to Molly about not getting the surgery. Simone finally shuts him down, as she should. Ugh. So over Molly.

In the other OR, Jules is still unsure of sharing space with Beltran and operating on someone they both slept with, but then she does something an dpunctures the patient’s heart. She freaks out with Beltran trying to calm her down, and she yells someone to call Winston.

Link and Owen talk about their relationships and issues while trying to set up the carseat in their married couple’s car. They don’t get too far with the whole advice thing.

Monica has to reassure Jules for the umpteenth time that she still wants her on the surgery while Winston talks her through what happened and tries to teach her.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

Lucas watches Simone during her surgery, and Webber feels he needs to give him a pep talk since it seems like something may be up with him. However, as he’s doing it, Webber finishes and looks up to see that Lucas is gone.

Simone has some issues at first, but she successfully pulls off the surgery and does incredibly well, with Bailey overseeing it and Blue helping her. This is a moment of triumph for Simone, the best of the best, especially now that Mika is gone.

When Amelia and Mer finish their presentation to the grant panel, Koracick asks them questions and pushes their buttons. Nick tries to jump in and spark conversation, but Koracick is still making things about him.

Mer calls Koracick out on only testing male mice despite Alzheimer’s being significantly higher in women. Koracick doubles down on females messing with his study and its results, and it prompts Mer to go off about how sexist and problematic that is and calls the entire panel out on allowing that, and that is why they never find a cure.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

Jules apologizes to Monica, but Monica still dismisses the whole thing about sleeping with her ex and reminds her not to bring her personal life into the OR. She gives her some great advice and genuinely seems intent on mentoring her.

The husband comes into the room in time to meet his baby, and they’re all happy. Good for them, I guess.

Simone and Bailey talk to their patient and tell her about the biopsy results. Bailey congratulates Simone on making her look good, and Simone thanks Bailey. They’re so sweet. There is lots of mentorship.

Lucas asks Simone how the surgery went, and she talks about the amazing it is. He declines the offer to go get drinks with Simone, and he seems caught up in the whole thing with the surgical interns and not getting to do surgery maybe.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

At home, Link tells Jo that he doesn’t need the big wedding he just wants to be married to her. But she tells him that she wants the wedding. She initially doesn’t because she did it before, but she realizes that she wants that moment to be special for them both.

Simone talks to Jules about her concern with maybe insulting Lucas, and Jules opens up to her about swearing off of sex for a bit.

She walks up to Beltran and Winston having drinks at Joe’s, and she asks Winston to be her mentor. She’s willing to do whatever he needs her to do. He agrees. Beltran is a bit put off that she asked Winston and not her to be her mentor.

Blue returns home to Molly and finally tells her that he’s backing her 100% no matter what choice she makes, but he’s just scared. She apologizes too, and it pans out to Dave being there. Awkward AF, but a bit more interesting!

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

At home, Owen and Teddy talk about their relationship some more. He says that he’s willing to try something new if she is, and it takes him a minute to get there. It seems they’re both willing to take the next step and open up their marriage.

But they don’t want to know any details about each other’s other relationships and they stay safe and check in with each other.

No feelings, and they put each other first. They seal their open marriage plan with a kiss and more. Okey dokey, who knew agreeing to an open marriage would get them all hot and bothered!

Mer tells Nick at home that Koracick won the grant. Ugh. Awful.

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

She mentions her mother and the industry’s long history of male dominance. She then suggests that she and Amelia should start doing Koracick’s research with female mice, and she’ll use her savings to do so.

Nick says he wants to be an investor because he’ll always bet on her. They’re so cute!
