Behold: All the Horror and Thriller Content Coming to Netflix
Netflix

June is here. That means summer is nearly upon us. More importantly, that means a new lineup of genre offerings from streaming giant Netflix are on the way. Because we care and because we want to make life just a little easier for you, we have sorted through what’s hitting the platform over the next month and broken it down to what we think will be of greatest interest to our readers (IE: horror, true crime, thrillers, and various other genre offerings).

We will start out by providing some commentary on five additions that we’re particularly excited about. If you’re solely looking for a list of what’s hitting the platform with no chatter, scroll to the bottom of this post.

Without further ado, we present to you what’s coming to Netflix in June 2023.

Black Mirror

This mind-bending science fiction anthology series is finally gearing up for a sixth season. The fifth season bowed in 2019. But hopefully the long wait will be worth it. The upcoming sixth season (which will debut at some point in the month of June) features an impressive roster of guest stars. You can expect to see noteworthy names like Josh Hartnett, Aaron Paul, and Kate Mara popping up in the forthcoming season.

The British anthology series, which was created by Charlie Brooker, takes ample inspiration from The Twilight Zone and typically features stories that unfold in a dystopian future setting.

End of Days

While End of Days may not have dazzled critics and may not even have a fanatic fanbase, I think it’s an awful lot of fun. Arnold Schwarzenegger steps into a role that feels like it was initially written for Bruce Willis but manages to hold his own. Jericho, a hard-living cop loses his family and falls into a deep depression that has him questioning his will to live. But when Satan arrives on the scene looking to wife up, Jericho finds a new sense of purpose.

The narrative is a little silly and the performances are a bit hammy. But I count this action-horror hybrid as a fun time that serves up plenty of grandiose effects. End of Days will bow on the platform June 1.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Terminator 2 is one of the best action-sci-fi hybrids of all time. The flick moves at breakneck pace and even features some legitimately emotional exchanges between core cast members. This time-traveling epic finds a cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) going back in time to protect John Connor (son of Sarah) from a more advanced and even deadlier cyborg.

I’ve seen this film more times than I can count on all my fingers and toes and it never gets old. Shockingly, the effects hold up remarkably well after more than 30-years. That feat is even more impressive when considering the film made use of an experimental technology called CGI long before it became the norm. You can stream the film on Netflix starting June 1.

The Ring

This English-language remake is a chilling retelling of the 1998 film, Ringu. It killed at the box office and even spawned a couple of sequels. The film is steeped in paranoia and manages to make the somewhat unlikely theme of a cursed VHS tape properly terrifying.

The Ring is one of the better remakes to come out of the ‘00s and I consider it one with quite a bit of replay value. Anyone due for a rewatch is in luck because this chilling cinematic effort will be available to stream via Netflix starting June 1.

The Playing Card Killer

This Spanish-language docu-series will look back on the harrowing crimes of a serial killer that was active in Spain circa 2003. Authorities come to believe that a series of murders are linked together by a playing card left at one of the crime scenes.

Netflix has become one of the premiere destinations for true crime programming and The Playing Card Killer may just be their next bingeworthy offering. You can check it out for yourself beginning June 2.
