Picture it. It’s Friday night; the lights are turned down. Your favorite horror villain is slicing and dicing on the screen, and all you can think is, “I’d never fall for that! I could totally take him!”
We’ve all been there right? It’s fairly a right of passage for any horror lover to pick two villains. One they love, and one whose ass they know they could kick.
But what about the people who’ve acted in those films and series? The people who have made careers on the big and small screen? For us, it’s a fantasy. For them…if they play their cards right…they might just get the chance.
Being a curious–nosey–reporter, I had a little chat with a friend at NBCUniversal, and he was kind enough to ask a few of their stars to weigh in on the matter. I was not let down. Take a look at the list below, and tell us who you’d like to face down yourself!
Freddy Krueger
Christine Elise, Jocko Sims, and Alex Vincent all want to take a whack at wise-cracking Freddy.
Alex Vincent (Chucky, SYFY and USA Network): If I were to face off against another horror icon, I’d have to say Freddy Krueger. The concept of being stalked and killed in my dreams has always been haunting, and profound to me. The prospect sounds rather terrifying, and without Robert England I’m not sure I’d feel quite the same, but that story has always been impactful to me!
Jocko Sims (New Amsterdam, NBC): Freddy…. I first saw A Nightmare on Elm Street when I was four years old. It changed my life. Freddy was like Santa Clause, and oddly became a large part of why I do what I do today!
Christine Elise (Chucky, SYFY and USA Network): Because I consider the newer franchises (Child’s Play, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St and Scream) as iconic as the original Universal monster films – any of those would be incredible but I have a soft spot for Freddy. Maybe because he is a wise ass like Chucky, maybe the being afraid to sleep is so visceral a fear, maybe because I think he would be Chucky’s best nemesis – I am not sure – but I would choose Freddy.
Ghostface
Sara Tomko and Daniela Nieves are ready for their big showdown with Ghostface.
Sara Tomko (Resident Alien, SYFY): Ghostface from the Scream series.
Daniela Nieves (Vampire Academy, Peacock): Ghostface just because I feel like out of all the other horror icons he’s probably the weakest ability wise.
Pennywise
Chibuikem Uche holds a grudge against Pennywise. Judah Prehn just wants his balloons. That’s fair.
Chibuikem Uche (One Of Us Is Lying, Peacock):Pennywise! As a child, I watched It with my older siblings, and for the next 3-4 years Pennywise heavily haunted me in my sleep. So I’m fully prepared to face-off and end this battle once and for all, so other 8 year olds don’t have to suffer like I did.
Judah Prehn (Resident Alien, Peacock): Pennywise because I like balloooooooonnns.
Hannibal Lecter
Zyra Gorecki is ready to be charmed, but can she pull a Clarice Starling?
Zyra Gorecki (La Brea, NBC): Okay, I don’t watch very many horror movies, but one of my favorite movies is Silence of the Lambs (psychological thriller, is that a horror movie?), so I would want to face Dr. Lector. I think it would be interesting to face him because he’s such a contradiction….both seemingly gentleman and a horrifying serial killer cannibal.
Michael Myers
Jake Lockett wants to take a stab at the Shape!
Jake Lockett (Chicago Fire, NBC): I’d love to face Michael Myers. Mainly because I’ve grown up watching Halloween every year and I find that there is some amazing genre extremes in fighting and lines that border on comedy. I’d love get to explore all that while finally “killing him” at the end of the film. Assuming that he can be killed…
Chucky
Daniel Kyri (Chicago Fire, NBC): Chucky because I feel like a well-placed kick and a nice sprint would get me to safety!
