It’s the tragedy that rocked the small village of Buxton. Five teenagers, aged between 14 and 16, are dead after their ute slammed into a tree and split in two.
A makeshift memorial is growing at the scene of the horror smash. The tight-knit community is coming together to grieve. The 18-year-old driver was the sole survivor. He was released from Liverpool Hospital this afternoon, and almost immediately was arrested.
Killed in the crash were Gabby McLennan and Lilly Van de Putte – they were best friends since primary school, and soccer team mates. Apprentice carpenter Antonio Desisto. Summer Williams, who was described as the ‘extrovert’ and ‘life of the party.’ And, BMX rider and boxer Tyrese Bechard.
18-year-old driver, Tyrell Edwards, was the only survivor from the crash on East Parade and at about 1:50pm today he was arrested by police in Bargo. He was taken to Narellan police station, where he is being interviewed by police.
