One of Halloween’s best stunts of all time is a certain tumble from a certain roof. The iconic fall has been copied many times. The Shape leaves nothing but a shape outline on the front yard’s grass. James Winburn has died after a long and awesome history working as a stuntman.
Winburn worked on a ton of great films including Escape From New York, Popcorn, The Fog and 80 other fascinating roles.
Winburn’s agent and friend Peter DeLorme broke the news to fans over on Twitter. DeLorme said that Wilburn passed away in a hospital after a short illness. Fans have been supportive and have been wishing all the best.
The synopsis for Halloween goes like this:
“On a cold Halloween night in 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith’s Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims.“
Wilburn will be missed. However, what a cool thing to be immortalized for. Myers falling off that roof and disappearing set horror history and Wilburn will forever mark that iconic bloody outline in the grass.
