Director David Yarovesky is no stranger to the horror world, from Brightburn to Nightbooks. But with his latest film, Locked, he wanders into entirely new territory with the claustrophobic, single-location thriller that takes place almost entirely within the confines of an SUV. Sure, one location might sound nice, but in that small of a space for an entire feature, you have to get creative to make it interesting, entertaining, and, overall, scary.
In the film:
When Eddie (Bill Skarsgård) breaks into a luxury SUV, he steps into a deadly trap set by William (Anthony Hopkins), a self-proclaimed vigilante delivering his own brand of twisted justice. With no means of escape, Eddie must fight to survive in a ride where escape is an illusion, survival is a nightmare, and justice shifts into high gear.
We spoke with Yarovesky about filming an entire movie inside of a car, the charming sweetness of Bill Skarsgard, and a very specific scene featuring Anthony Hopkins and a joint.
