Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest offering takes us through another landscape of pure violence and the supernatural. Copenhagen Cowboy is incredibly stylized and full of artful shots. The director of Drive, Pusher and Neon Demon is constantly surprising and the trailer for Copenhagen Cowboy looks to push that envelope.
The synopsis for Copenhagen Cowboy goes like this:
“After a lifetime of servitude and on the verge of a new beginning, she traverses the ominous landscape of Copenhagen’s criminal netherworld. Searching for justice and enacting vengeance, she encounters her nemesis, Rakel, as they embark on an odyssey through the natural and the supernatural. The past ultimately transforms and defines their future, as the two women discover they are not alone, they are many.“
The film stars Angela Bundalovic, Lola Corfixen, Zlatko Buric, Andreas Lykke Jørgensen, Jason Hendil-Forssell, LiIi Zhang, and Dragana Milutinovic. The six episodes were written by Sara Isabella Jönsson, Johanne Algren, and Mona Masri.
Copenhagen Cowboy arrives on Netflix beginning January 5.
