‘Poor Things’ Trailer: Willem Dafoe Resurrects Emma Stone In New

The teaser trailer for Poor Things has finally dropped, and we are clutching our collective pearls. This preview is serving Victorian-era high fashion, mad scientists, and a lot of familiar faces. It’s gorgeous and even cooler than we imagined it would be.

About the film:

“From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.“

Poor Things is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and written by Tony McNamara. It’s based on a novel by the same name written by Alasdair Gray and stars Emma Stone, Margaret Qualley, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, + Jerrod Carmichael.

According to Variety, this will not be the last time Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, and Yorgos Lanthimos team up. They’re also working on another star-studded film called AND.
