You know the drill, it’s a new week which means a new list of horror films is dropping on streaming services. Luckily for you, we here at iHorror have curated a list of these films so that you don’t have to waste precious time that could be spent watching horror flicks. So, without further ado, let’s jump into it.
Summoning The Spirit August 8th VOD
Summoning The Spirit
New age cult films seem to be all the rage these days. It seems that everyone is trying to get away from the grind and back to our more nature bound roots. Summoning The Spirit takes this trope one step further by adding in bigfoot.
This may seem like a bit of a stretch but I say bring it on. Cults always seem to be in the woods for some reason, and you know what else is in the woods? Bigfoot. If you are looking for a genre mashup this week, give Summoning The Spirit a try. Streaming via VOD platforms on August 8th.
Wolf Hollow August 8th VOD
Wolf Hollow
I can’t begin to describe how much I love Felisa Rose (Sleepaway Camp). The queen of the horror convention has been in countless horror flicks over the years. And now we get to see her in a Werewolf film.
Not just any Werewolf film either, Wolf Hollow adds just a hint of small-town charm to its jump scares. I know that I will be carving out some time to watch Felisa get involved in some Werewolf action. Wolf Hollow will be streaming on August 8th via VOD platforms.
The Thing Behind the Door August 8th VOD
The Thing Behind the Door
This film looks like what would happen if Pet Semetary was set during World War One from the angle of a depressed French philosopher. Equal parts The Monkeys Paw and Night of the Living Dead come together to bring us this bleak affair.
The Thing Behind the Door promises to show us the real horrors of war don’t stop just because the war is over. This film will be streaming on August 8th via VOD platforms.
Island Escape August 8th VOD
Island Escape
Ok, this one is a bit off the rails. Island Escape mixes the plot of Resident Evil 4 with a time loop wormhole. I’ll give them an A for creativity at the very least. Not only that, but it looks like we are getting zombies with guns.
Island Escape comes to us from the good people over at Dread Central. If you are looking for something a little more on the action side, check out Island Escape. Streaming on VOD on August 8th.
The Communion Girl August 11th Shudder
The Communion Girl
I have discussed The Communion Girl previously, but we all need reminders about release dates. This film looks like a fairly standard ghost story. It even comes with its own haunted doll for added effect.
While the trailer makes it seem like an average horror flick, I am sure that the people over at Shudder have something awesome in store for fans. The Communion Girl will stream exclusively on Shudder on August 11th.
Elevator Game August 11th Shudder
The Elevator Game
Things were simpler when I was a child. If you wanted to summon a demon, you just got a cabin in the woods and read some Latin out of a dusty tome. Kids these days are apparently using some sort of elevator Konami Code to summon the dead.
The Elevator Game is based on a viral TikTok urban legend. It looks as though we will have to welcome in the TikTok sub-genre of horror, just as we did with the Zoom and Skype movies that came before it. The Elevator Game will be streaming exclusively on Shudder on August 11th.
Cobweb August 11th VOD
Cobweb
This film is one giant cake made of childhood fears, with some extra heavy Coraline icing on top for extra flavor. Cobweb has been making a name for itself as a horror film filled with terror and momentum.
This film is aware that it isn’t a completely original idea, but it tries to take those old fears and ramp them up to eleven. Cobweb will be streaming on VOD platforms on August 11th.
Blind Waters August 12th Tubi
Blind Waters
This film is a Tubi Original film, which means at the very least it will be a fun watch. After the platform was purchased by Fox, Tubi has been making a name for itself by creating its own original film catalog.
Blind Waters takes shark horror to the next level by blinding one of its protagonists shortly after the shark attack. Adding an extra dimension to the terror of this situation. Blind Waters will be streaming exclusively on Tubi on August 12th.
