The original Eddie Munster sheds some light on the new film.
Some pretty interesting news today from the land of Mockingbird Heights. While speaking with podcast 20TIMinutes, Butch Patrick—AKA the original Eddie Munster—gave up some very fascinating details about the upcoming Rob Zombie adaptation of The Munsters.
In the most surprising update, Butch mentioned the film has an allegedly long running time. Nothing is confirmed, however the actor seems confident.
“This movie is going to kill in a really good way,” mentions Butch. “It’s a very long movie, it’s like 2 hours and 38 minutes … but I’ve seen footage and I’ve seen where he’s going with it and it’s going to be great, it really is.”
Butch Patrick also coyly dodges the question when asked if he makes a cameo in the new film. The actor then gives some interesting insight into the man behind the persona of Rob Zombie, claiming that the director is actually the perfect choice for a PG-rated reboot of The Munsters.
Check out the full Butch Patrick Munsters interview here:
The cast Rob Zombie’s reboot includes Sherri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, Jeff Daniel Philips as Herman Munster, and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa Munster. Subsequently, the original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick, and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together, the group played the average nuclear American family. But with a twist—they were a clan of monsters!
Lastly, there’s still no word if The Munsters will head to theaters, or if it’ll be exclusive through the streamer Peacock sometime this year.
