As you might have guessed already (I mean, you read the headline, right?) this is not an example plucked from the air at random. The latest bit of movie news involves a key member of the Jurassic Park creative team bringing back another famous franchise byJurassic ParkauthorMichael Crichton. That would beWestworld, the film and later television series that predatedJurassic Park and presented Crichton’s first vision of a high-tech theme park descending into chaos.

We loved these miniseries when they came out, but now barely anyone talks about them.

Generation Kill (2008)”,”photo-description”:”

Maybe it’s because most of the cast didn’t make waves in the same way that many of the actors from Band of Brothers and The Pacific did (seriously, almost every famous guy of a certain era can be traced back to those two shows), but Generation Kill remains one of HBO’s best and most underrated miniseries. Based on the book written by reporter Evan Wright when he was embedded with the U.S. Marines during the 2003 invasion of Iraq and overseen by David Simon and Ed Burns of The Wire, the show presents a clear-eyed and mostly objective view of what the first few months of the war were like, and stars an early-career Alexander Skarsgard as the spookily calm and collected Staff Sergeant Brad “Iceman” Colbert. It’s intense, violent, and unblinking, and one of the best pieces of media about that time that have been made in the decades since.
