Kena: Bridge of Spirits is coming up on its first anniversary and developer Ember Labs is celebrating the occasion with a giant update. This patch will contain many new big features and cosmetics and will release for free on September 27, the same day it releases on Steam.

IGN’s exclusive trailer runs through these new modes and items. New Game Plus is one of the more notable additions, as it lets users replay the game with all of their unlocked abilities, outfits, and upgrades. But combat scenarios have redesigned with more challenging configurations and new enemy types in order to compensate for the extra power. Kena will also have new moves to try out after this update, which should give users even more reasons to dive back in.
Spirit Guide Trials are another marquee addition and are challenges that test the player’s combat and platforming skills. Each rewards players with a new outfit for Kena upon completion. Checking off optional objectives will even unlock color variations for each, too. However, one outfit is locked to those with the deluxe edition. The Rot, the little beings that follow Kena around, will also get some additional cosmetics in the form of new hats.
The update will also bring in a new type of collectible called Charmstones. These act as perks and give Kena certain buffs or debuffs and can also be unlocked in the Spirit Guide Trials.

The newly improved Photo Mode that adds lighting options, more poses, and the ability to have a “moving camera” rounds out the anniversary update, but it remains to be seen if there will be other small improvements and changes when the patch drops.
