Ahead of the Cobra Kai Season 5 release, ComingSoon spoke with William Zabka about the latest installment in the fan-favorite Cobra Kai series. This time, Johnny Lawrence faced new challenges, including a perilous journey to Mexico. While abroad, Johnny bumps into an underground MMA promotion that featured some bloody fights. One of the people who locked horns with Johnny is current Ultimate Fighting Championship 205-pounder Eryk Anders.
“He was very kind and very easy on me. [Laughs]. It was great. It was great. He’s a tank,” said Zabka of Anders. “What a sweet guy, all those guys, all the stunt guys, and including him, he was great. So it was nice that they let me, the ‘Karate White Lightning,’ or whatever they called me, get a shot in on them. The spinning heel kick is very far-fetched, it wouldn’t happen in real life, but it’s television. So I’ll take it. It was great.”

“Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his ‘No Mercy’ style of karate the only game in town,” reads the synopsis. “With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.”
Cobra Kai Season 5 is now streaming on Netflix.
