Attorneys Ben Crump and Alex Hilliard held a press conference today in Houston where they announced they are filing 90 additional lawsuits on behalf of over 200 Astroworld Festival attendees, as KHOU notes. “Nobody should ever die from going to a concert,” Crump said, according to Reuters. “So this lawsuit is not just about getting justice for them, but it’s about making sure that the promoters and the organizers know that you cannot allow this to ever happen in the future.”
Crump, Alex Hilliard, and Bob Hilliard have previously said they are representing a 9-year-old, identified as “E.B.,” who was trampled at Astroworld and later hospitalized. In their press release regarding the lawsuit, the lawyers said they’re naming ScoreMore Holdings, Live Nation Entertainment, Travis Scott, and Cactus Jack Records as defendants.
One of the first Astroworld lawsuits was filed by Manuel Souza the day after the festival. He also named against Travis Scott, Live Nation Entertainment, and ScoreMore Holdings in his lawsuit. Since then, attorney Thomas J. Henry announced that he is representing 68 festivalgoers in a lawsuit against Travis Scott, Drake, Live Nation, and NRG Stadium. Another notable Texas attorney, Tony Buzbee, said he is filing a lawsuit for over 35 Astroworld attendees.
Nine people died after attending Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, including 22-year-old Bharti Shahani, who succumbed to her injuries days after the November 5 event. Travis Scott has promised refunds to Astroworld attendees and said he will pay the funeral costs for the families of the deceased. He has also launched an email address for those affected by the tragedy to contact him and his team.
