Five years removed from the Anticult album, Polish tech-death brutes Decapitated will unleash Cancer Culture on May 27. With the title track already out, the group has followed it up with another preview of what’s coming on the new LP with a music video for “Hello Death,” which features clean vocals from Jinjer frontwoman Tatiana Shmayluk.
“Jinjer is one of the more interesting acts in metal music of the last few years and Tatiana’s vocals on the song will surprise some people,” said Decapitated leader and guitarist Vogg of the latest single.
“Hello Death” marks another expansion of Decapitated’s sound, anchored by their frenzied, strobe-like riffing which ebbs in intensity and creates nervous tension with palm-muted tremolo-picked rhythms and technical leads over which Shmayluk lends her enchanting voice.

“We’ve changed our path from record to record every time,” said Vogg of Decapitated’s endless pursuit for new stylistic elements. “Each album differs from the previous one, which I think is somehow a tradition in our band, a hallmark. Of course, it is not something we plan to do; it comes naturally. I like to explore new musical territories and always be honest with the feelings I put into what I create. I don’t plan to make something more melodic, romantic, brutal, or whatever. It’s very organic, whichever way I’m feeling in the moment. That might be too risky for some bands, but our fans know that we never deliver the same music twice. We want to surprise and show them how the music is versatile.”
“There is always something new for this kind of music, but at the same time, it will be based on my roots,” the guitarist continued, “Florida death metal bands, Bay Area thrash, Polish death, and thrash — what I loved growing up.”
Cancer Culture, Decapitated’s eighth full length, will be released on Nuclear Blast and pre-orders can be placed here. View the album art and track listing further down the page where you’ll also find the music video for the previously released title track.
Decapitated, “Hello Death” Lyrics
All of them sweet little lambs
End up as deaf stray dogs
Chasing their tails tirelessly
Barking up the wrong tree
Living in fear to leave in fear
Pissing their dens, whining holy hymnsHello death
I’m back
No place like home
Grave sweet graveInquisitive philosophers
Influencers and followers
Fat bishops and their golden rings
Skinny thieves with all gold teeth
Bridges, churches and dollhouses
Emptiness swallows everythingHello death
I’m back
No place like home
Grave sweet grave
Hello death
I’m back
No place like home
Hello death
I’m back
Grave sweet graveMoth fluttering around the candle
Loves light but fears the heat
And yet the flame is inevitable
You can run but you can’t hide
You can pray but why waste time
You’re born, you blink and then you dieMoth fluttering around the candle
Loves light but fears the heat
And yet the flame is inevitable
You can run but you can’t hide
You can pray but why waste time
You’re born, you blink and then you dieI have wrestled with death
It is the most unexciting contest you can imagine
It takes place in an impalpable greyness, with nothing underfoot
With nothing around, without spectators, without glamour
Without glory, without the great desire of victory
Without the great fear of defeat
Without the great fear of defeat
