Kurt Vile has announced his first new full-length album since 2018’s Bottle It In. This one’s called (watch my moves), and it’s out April 15. It’s his first release on his new label home, Verve Records. Today, he’s also shared the video for a new song called “Exploding Like Stones,” which features Sun Ra Arkestra’s James Stewart. Watch it below, and find Vile’s upcoming tour dates, too.
The new album includes a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Wages of Sin.” Vile’s band the Violators appear on the album he self-produced with help from Rob Schnapf, and it also includes contributions from Cate Le Bon, Chastity Belt, Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa, and percussionist Sarah Jones.
(watch my moves) was recorded at Vile’s home studio OKV Central. “When Waylon Jennings became an outlaw country artist, he liked to record at Hillbilly Central, which was Tompall Glaser’s studio,” Vile said in a statement. “OKV Central is my version of that in Mount Airy. I’ve come into my own here, and at the same time I’m getting back to my home-recording roots.”
