More information about the planned live-action Scooby-Doo series from Netflix has popped up, including when the series is set to begin filming.
When will the live-action Scooby-Doo series begin filming?
According to a new report from What’s On Netflix, the live-action Scooby-Doo series at Netflix is set to begin filming sometime in April. Production will occur largely in Atlanta, Georgia, with the report noting that filming will take place through Q2 2026.
Should this date stay true, that means a release date for the project likely wouldn’t be occurring until 2027, which tracks with a recent report from What’s On Netflix as well. Currently, no casting information is available for the live-action version of Scooby-Doo characters, but the show will see Frank Welker reprise his role as Scooby-Doo. Welker has lent his voice to the character since 2002, and also voiced Fred Jones throughout some of the show’s history as well.
“A modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder,” reads the official logline for the new live-action series. “Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
Netflix officially announced the live-action project in March 2025, nearly a year after initial reports revealed that a live-action adaptation was being developed. Although Scooby-Doo remains one of the most popular animation since its debut in the late 1960s, this will be its first appearance as a live-action television series.
The only previous live-action versions were the two feature films released in the early 2000s. They were initially met with mixed reactions but have since gained a strong following.
