Simone Biles traveled to Peru this week and marked the trip with a joyful Instagram post. “VIVA PERU 🎉🇵🇪” read her caption. The excitement in it was contagious.
The trip appears to be personal. Biles didn’t announce an event, a partnership, or an itinerary alongside it. She’s spoken publicly about wanting to embrace life fully outside competition in recent years, and heading to South America fits that spirit perfectly.
Peru is one of the most breathtaking destinations in the Western Hemisphere. Ancient sites like Machu Picchu draw visitors from all over the world. Lima’s culinary scene has earned global acclaim. The country’s history and culture have a way of moving the people who visit, and Simone’s celebratory caption suggests she felt it firsthand.
Her career has been nothing short of historic. Biles is widely regarded as the greatest gymnast of all time, with more World Championship medals than any other gymnast and multiple Olympic gold medals earned across different Games. Her 2024 Paris Olympics performance added yet another unforgettable chapter to that legacy.
Several gymnastics skills bear her name in the official code of points, a tribute rarely bestowed on any athlete during their own career. Biles has genuinely redefined what’s considered possible in the sport.
But her influence extends well beyond what she’s done on the mat. Biles has been open about mental health, self-worth, and the importance of stepping back from something you love. Those conversations helped reshape the way the sports world talks about athlete wellbeing. Her honesty about struggle made her relatable as much as admirable.
Beyond her athletic legacy, Biles has built a presence as one of the most recognized figures in American sports culture. Endorsed by major brands and admired across industries, she’s become a symbol of both excellence and authenticity.
Biles married NFL player Jonathan Owens in 2023. The two have been a warm, celebrated presence together ever since. Life in the years after her peak competitive career looks full and happy for Simone, and that comes through every time she shares something personal.
She hasn’t shared more details about the Peru trip, and she doesn’t need to. The celebratory caption was enough to get people curious, and her followers are clearly excited for her.
For someone who’s faced as much public scrutiny as Biles has, a post like this carries real warmth. She went to Peru on her own terms and posted a celebratory caption. That kind of update genuinely makes people happy for her.
Peru has grown into a sought-after celebrity travel destination over the past several years. Its UNESCO-listed heritage sites, Amazon biodiversity, and acclaimed food culture draw travelers from across the globe. A nod from someone with Simone’s reach tends to draw eyes to any destination she visits.
There’s something refreshing about seeing one of the greatest athletes of all time take a personal adventure and cheer about it. No press release needed. Simone Biles went to Peru, loved it, and let the world know. Good for her.
