Netflix has finally announced the release date for the upcoming premiere of Sonic Prime Season 2.
When is the Sonic Prime Season 2 release date
The series is scheduled to return on July 13, 2023, with new episodes. The Sonic Prime Season 2 release date comes after five months since the 8-episode first season of the animated TV adaptation of SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog made its debut.
“The action-packed adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog go into overdrive when a run-in with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event,” reads the logline. “Desperate to piece his prime reality back together and save his old friends, Sonic races through the Shatterverse, discovering strange worlds and enlisting new friends in an epic adventure of a lifetime!”
Sonic Prime features the voices of Deven Mack, Ashleigh Ball, Shannon Chan-Kent, Brian Drummond, Vincent Tong, Ian Hanlin, Kazumi Evans, and Adam Nurada. It is executive produced by Man of Action Entertainment, the creative team behind Ben 10 and Big Hero 6.
The series is being animated at WildBrain. Additional executive producers include Erik Wiese, Josh Scherba, Anne Loi, Stephanie Betts, Logan McPherson, Haruki Satomi Yukio Sugino, Shuji Utsumi, and Toru Nakahara.
Sonic the Hedgehog was first seen in 1991 on the SEGA Genesis. Since then, the character was inducted into the “World Video Game Hall of Fame” in 2016 at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. The video game was also adapted into two live-action movies starring Ben Schwartz and James Marsden. The film franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of over $700 million. The third installment is now in-development along with a Knuckles spin-off series for Paramount+.
