A newSupergirlvideo is out, highlighting the “rock and roll” attitude that Milly Alcock is bringing to the character and how she’s different from her Kryptonian cousin, Superman.

The brand new Supergirl video serves more as a brief, behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming movie. Both James Gunn and Alcock are interviewed and share how this movie, and Alcock’s Kara Zor-El, are much different than Superman.
According to Alcock and Gunn, the movie features a much different vibe from Superman. While many may view Kara as a sidekick to the big hero, Alcock promises this movie is nothing like that, and that we’ll see more of Kara in a new light.
Supergirl will be based on Tom King’s 2021-2022 comic book series, which Bilquis Evely illustrated. The film starsAlcock, who will play the titular role of Kara Zor-El and will be written by Ana Nogueira and produced by DC Studios co-CEOsGunnand Peter Safran.
“We will see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” Gunn said of the project in 2023. “She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
The film is directed by Craig Gillespie with a release date currently set for June 26, 2026.
