When the going gets weird–the weird turn pro. And the fact of the matter remains, when it comes to weirdness–horror cinema is indeed the most professional of professionals. By its very nature, horror cinema is weird. It’s odd. It’s not normal. If it was *normal* it wouldn’t be horror, it would be social realism–or a particularly dark documentary. By it’s nature, horror cinema has to have an element of otherness–of the unknown, the mysterious, the fantastic.
