Dozens of jokes from The Office stand out as some of the series’ very best, or at least most memorable. From Jim gaslighting Dwight about his identity using his actor friend, who is Asian (played by Randall Park), to Michael’s outrageous “Prison Mike” persona, there’s almost too many moments to choose from. But did you know one of the series’ funniest — and borderline shocking — jokes originally didn’t air?

Sometimes we have to admit to ourselves that our faves are not that great.

Aaron Sorkin’s political drama The West Wing popularized both his signature “walk and talk” and a very specific brand of saccharine political idealism. It’s one of those shows that’s always top of mind whenever we talk about once-beloved media that doesn’t hold up, especially not in today’s cursed era, no matter how compelling its choppy, fast-paced dialogue can be. It may be comforting to watch a show about a president and his cabinet who serve the American people simply because they just love to serve, but it’s hard not to admit that the whole enterprise reeks of fantasy.

This is a show that repeatedly features scenes of the “good guys” (the main characters) beating the “bad guys” (anyone who doesn’t agree with them or has the audacity to think they were smarter) by overwhelming them with pure logic and expert rhetoric while their foolish opponents sit in silence — basically, what everyone who has ever gotten into an argument in the comments of a Reddit post imagines they’re doing.
