A Scranton, Pennsylvania circus clown has landed in hot water after allegedly negotiating a sex act with an undercover police officer.
28-year-old Francis Bui drew the interest of law enforcement when he posted an ad in the escorts section of a local classifieds website. Bui’s ad reportedly promoted his services in a “sexually explicit manner.” Bui’s posting listed his real name and included a contact number.
The Times Tribune reports that when undercover officers texted the number from the posting, Bui agreed to engage in sex acts at the rate of $100 per hour. The suspect made plans to meet the prospective client at a nearby hotel. Much to Bui’s surprise, the would-be client wasn’t a client at all. In fact, the prospective customer was actually a police officer who took Bui into custody after arriving at the agreed-upon location. The officer ultimately charged Bui with promoting prostitution.

The complaint reports that Bui told police this was his first time attempting sex work and that he was low on funds and was looking to make some quick cash. The complaint further reveals that Bui told law enforcement he works as a clown and performs under the stage name The Amazing Franko. He added that he recently returned from a tour with a traveling circus.
No details on Bui’s trial or sentencing are available at the time of publication.
