As wildfires continue to spread across the Los Angeles area, several celebrities are taking to social media to share how they have been affected.
“Evacuated and safe with kids, dog and cats. Praying and grateful for the first responders,” Mandy Moore wrote in a Wednesday, January 8, Instagram Story statement. In a follow-up post, she added that her family is “grateful for the kindness of friends that we had a place to land last night.”
Moore — who shares kids Gus, 3, Ozzie, 2, and Lou, 3 months, with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith — continued: “Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel. Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don’t know if our place made it.”
Santa Ana wind gusts caused fast-burning brush fires to begin on Tuesday, January 7. CNN reported on Wednesday that over 50,000 people were under evacuation orders Tuesday night, with over 30,000 remaining under orders into Wednesday.
Among those evacuated was Mark Hamill, who informed his Instagram followers that he, his wife, Marilou York, and their dog, Trixie, were staying at his daughter Chelsea’s house. “Most horrific fire since ’93 🔥🔥,” he wrote on Wednesday. “STAY SAFE!”
