The Dragon Reborn is ready to ride! And he’s got a bunch of new folks joining in the fun. The Wheel of Time Season 3 is gearing up for its long-awaited debut, and Prime Video released an action-packed trailer for the third season to delight fans on Wednesday, February 12 that warns of a deadly ultimatum for the central characters.
In The Wheel of Time, a humble farm boy, Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), learns he is The Dragon Reborn — a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world… or break it. The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches.
The action-packed Season 3 trailer (see above) highlights this season’s high-stakes drama and gives a peek into its changing world, where the powerful Aes Sedai, Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), is tormented by her visions of the future, and Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) struggles to fulfill his destiny as the Dragon Reborn — will he choose the Light or let the Darkness consume him? As Moiraine warns of the future she saw in the rings, “In every future where I lived, Rand dies. And the only way he lives is if I don’t.”
With The Wheel of Time‘s return on the horizon, here’s a breakdown of everything to expect in Season 3.
When does The Wheel of Time Season 3 premiere?

The beloved fantasy series returns on Thursday, March 13, 2025 on Prime Video. Season 3 will premiere with the first three episodes, with additional new episodes streaming each week thereafter until the riveting season finale on April 17, 2025.
What book is The Wheel of Time Season 3 based on?
Season 3 could be the one that takes Wheel to the next level. This high fantasy gem, sumptuously designed and gorgeously executed, improved exponentially in its lavish second season (that finale was fire!), and the cast, already a strong ensemble from jump, was injected with some fascinating new additions who are poised to play key roles in what’s to come. And if you know the books, you know that The Shadow Rising, the fourth entry in Robert Jordan’s 15-book series that serves as the basis for the new season, is loaded with developments.

As Prime Video teases of the upcoming season: “After defeating Ishamael, one of the most powerful of the Forsaken, at the end of Season 2, Rand reunites with his friends in the city of Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn. But in Season 3, the threats against the Light are multiplying: the White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon… including Lanfear, whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both. As the ties to his past begin to unravel and his corrupted power grows stronger, Rand becomes increasingly unrecognizable to his closest allies, Moiraine and Egwene. These powerful women, who started the series as teacher and student, must now work together to prevent the Dragon from turning to the Dark… no matter the cost.”
The plot of the fan-favorite book will take the show’s viewers to “many new regions and cities across the fictional continent of the Westlands, including the vast deserts of the Aiel Waste, the intoxicating and dangerous port city of Tanchico, and the forbidden and fog-shrouded ancient city of Rhuidean, where Rand and Moiraine will both experience life-changing revelations,” the streamer shares. “Meanwhile on the other side of the world, in Rand’s small hometown of Two Rivers, his lifelong friend Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) will also embark on a personal journey, one which will change him forever.”
Is there a trailer for The Wheel of Time Season 3?
Yes, in addition to the February 12 trailer, Prime Video debuted a teaser trailer in December at the CCXP entertainment convention in Sao Paulo and confirmed its March 13 return. As seen below, the teaser offers a slew of begging-to-be-screengrabbed peeks at how the world has changed since Rand ascended to his prophesied role as the one person who can either save the world or end it. And the latest trailer is no different.
Who is in The Wheel of Time Season 3 cast?
It was announced on December 7 that five new cast members have were added to Season 3, and readers of Jordan’s beloved book series are sure to have a lot to talk about.
On the list are Isabella Bucceri as Faile Bashere, the Saldaean “Hunter of the Horn” whose efforts to locate a treasured relic have led her to the Two Rivers; Nukâka Coster-Waldau as Bair, the eldest Wise One and “most respected member of the Taardad Aiel,” per Prime’s release, who can both channel the One Power and access “an even more mystical ability”; Salóme Gunnarsdóttir will be playing Melaine, another Wise One of the Taardad Aiel; Björn Landberg is Rhuarc, the well-respected Clan Chief of the Taardad Aiel and one of the only Aiel who “knows what lies within the fog, though he is forbidden to speak of it”; and Synnøve Madocy Lund as Melindhra, a Malkieri survivor who was taken in and raised by the Taardad Aiel.
Still clearly torn between his old life and new powers, Rand’s guardian Moiraine (the tremendous Pike) and old friend Egwene (Madeleine Madden) have emerged as his two strongest assets, yet there’s also the lingering draw toward his deceptive ex, Lanfear (Natasha O’Keefe). We also get shots of Rand’s heroic pals Mat (Dónal Finn), Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins); Moiraine’s hotter-than-hell warder, Lan (Daniel Henney); her traitorous fellow Aes Sedai Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood).

Additional Season 3 cast includes Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand, Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche, Ayoola Smart as Aviendha, Kae Alexander as Min Farshaw, Priyanka Bose as Alanna Mosvani, Taylor Napier as Maksim, Hammed Animashaun as Loial, Meera Syal as Verin Mathwin, Jennifer Cheon Garcia as Leane, Johann Myers as Padan Fain, Jay Duffy as Dain Bornhald, Laia Costa as Moghedien, Olivia Williams as Queen Morgase Trakand, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan.
Emmy-award winner Shohreh Aghdashloo will also be joining the cast as Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, a highly anticipated character from the books who is described as “a ruthlessly powerful Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, as proficient in politicking as she is in channeling. She has a deep history with Moiraine and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), and scores to settle with both of them when she returns to the White Tower.” The release goes on to say that “Elaida is someone who believes in ends over means and is willing to do anything to achieve what she envisions to be the greater good.”
In Brazil, showrunner Rafe Judkins, Stradowski, and Madden also participated in a panel discussing the series and offered up some behind-the-scenes tales and teases. Unfortunately, we don’t have any official footage from that, but we trust the sleuths on Reddit and TikTok to have some clips up by the time you finish reading this sentence. Yeah, the fans are that good.
