Randy Blythe’s Top 3 Vocalists of All Time
H.R.
[H.R. of Bad Brains] had an amazing range at times. He was the fastest-singing man on the face of the planet, and having seen them in the ’80s, he is the greatest frontman of all time when he is at the height of his powers, there’s no doubt about it. It’s like he was plugged into some sort of other worldly power when I saw them play.
Nick Cave
Birthday Party era Nick Cave, particularly, is my favorite. There’s such menace to it. And he’s so well read and a brilliant, brilliant lyricist.
Iggy Pop
The godfather of punk rock, Iggy Pop. I forget how old he is now. He’s still a freaking maniac. I feel old and creaky, and I see a video of Iggy Pop still kicking ass, like just destroying. I love all this work. His later work, like American Valhalla, is amazing, but his stuff with The Stooges, particularly the Funhouse record, there’s just something undeniable about it.
