Most recently, producer Amy Pascal shared how Sony plans to approach future projects connected to the franchise. Her latest comments outline the studio’s strategy for expanding the universe.
Amy Pascal says Sony must be ‘really careful’ with Spider-Man spin-offs
As Sony continues to expand its Spider-Man franchise, longtime producer Amy Pascal says the studio is taking a calculated approach to future spin-offs. The longtime producer stressed that the studio must be selective when developing spin-offs.
Speaking to SFX Magazine, Pascal explained that the studio is conscious of avoiding oversaturation. “You don’t want to just keep exploiting the same character. I think that would make it unspecial for the world.”
She believes that the wider franchise provides enough material to support fresh stories. The producer said, “So there are other things in the Spider-Man universe that I think are really fun for us to explore, because the comics were so varied and so creative.”
Pascal added, “I think Peter Parker should exist in live action, and I love what we’re doing with Miles in the animated movies.” She concluded by emphasizing the studio’s approach to future projects, saying, “We just have to be really careful that we’re being smart about all this.” At present, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse remains the only other Spider-Man film officially confirmed. Meanwhile, Holland’s future beyond Brand New Day has not been announced.
Her comments come as Spider-Man: Brand New Day prepares to bring Tom Holland back as Peter Parker following the events of No Way Home, where the world forgot his identity. The new film follows Peter as he faces another threat while attempting to rebuild his life.
Brand New Day is scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on July 31, 2026.
