Adam Scott posted a birthday tribute to actress Naomi Scott on Wednesday, August 12, and the message was a genuinely sweet one.
The actor, best known these days for his role in the Apple TV+ drama Severance, addressed Naomi on Instagram with “Happy birthday to my love.” He then added something a little more expansive.
“Today is Naomi Scott‘s birthday – which for our friends, family & I carries the weight of a national holiday, simply because not one of us can believe our luck that this incredible person is in our lives,” he wrote.
The “national holiday” comparison is the detail that makes the whole thing stick. Framing Naomi’s birthday that way shifts the celebration outward. It becomes something felt collectively by everyone around her, not just a personal occasion. It’s an unusual image. It works because it’s so specific.
Naomi Scott, reportedly a close friend of the Scott family, has built a genuinely impressive career across two disciplines. She first came to wide attention through the Power Rangers film in 2017. Two years later, she made a global impression playing Jasmine in Disney’s live-action Aladdin, opposite Will Smith and Mena Massoud. She’s also released her own music. She’s spoken openly about how central that creative side is to her.
Adam, meanwhile, has had his own strong run. Severance became one of the most discussed shows in recent memory. His performance as Mark Scout earned him a new level of critical recognition. He’d built a devoted following long before, through Parks and Recreation and films like Step Brothers. Severance moved him into a different tier of conversation.
The post is brief, two sentences, and keeps its focus entirely on collective gratitude. At its center is the shared disbelief that someone this wonderful ended up in their lives.
The tribute also speaks for everyone around her. Adam addresses the birthday on behalf of friends and family, writing “for our friends, family & I” to make clear this is a collective celebration. That’s a generous way to frame someone’s day.
The phrasing reads like something said around a dinner table rather than crafted for a public feed. It’s honest, uncomplicated affection. That kind of thing reads clearly even through a phone screen.
Naomi Scott is spending her birthday surrounded by people who are clearly thrilled she’s in their world. Adam Scott‘s tribute makes that much clear.
