She continued, “When you work in something like healthcare, and I think it’s any profession really, where you’re just exposed to so many different walks of life, is the world gets much bigger, and I think that’s something that with the, and let’s be, I mean, I was not by any means Miley or Selena or any of these huge people who really had a very easy way of getting stuck in a bubble and a big fight to not. Right? But I still, even when Wizards ended, I needed to be humbled. I needed to be taken down a few pegs. Granted, God did that, we can stop now, ’cause I got sick with type 1 diabetes when I was 20.
[The] show ended when I was 18, so I got two years out of it, and then I was in and out of hospitals for four years. That inspired me to get my nursing degree, and then it just, all of that gave me so much perspective, and then working the pandemic, I mean, you know. You do not sweat the small stuff. The entertainment industry stuff, like, I’ll have my actor friends spin out about like, ‘Oh, I didn’t get a call back, or this happened,’ and I’m like, ‘Doesn’t fucking matter. You’re alive. You’re getting to do what you love. You’re alive. You’re healthy, and you don’t know how much time you have.’ It makes all this stuff so small and so much easier to digest because you’ve digested such bigger, harder things. You know, it’s like exposure therapy.”
