Christmas time is nearly upon us. With the yuletide spirit comes the unfortunate news that another season of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula has come to an end. It is unfortunate that we are forced to wait another year to experience more of the mastery that Swanthula and Dracmorda provide for us, but the ferocity of Season 666 should keep our spirits alight through the coming darkness.
Although all of the competitors of Season 666 brought their unique and amazing talent to the show, one competitor took the stage with a sense of style and grace that has never been seen before. Asia Consent laid her beating heart of the stage of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula and walked away with the crown. Luckily, Asia was kind enough to sit down and share her thoughts about the competition and her recent win.
iHorror: What is the story behind the wig incident?
Asia Consent: What you see on TV is basically what happened. I loved how chaotic it was. It did suck not having my full promo look but it made for a gaggy moment. They did end up giving it back to me though.
iHorror: What does this victory mean for you?
Asia Consent: It means that all the years of trying, and all of the hard work was valid and that I was doing the right thing with my life. This entire experience has been the most validating thing in my life. This is the first time I have been able to truly be myself. I want to let people know that if you just be yourself, good things will come your way.
iHorror: What is next for Asia Consent?
Asia Consent: I want to go on tour and meet the fans. I love video games, so I really want to stream on Twitch. I will be doing that with a couple of my Season 666 sisters. I would love to make a demented horror film. I want to do all the things I imagined as a child I would be able to do.
iHorror: With Twitch in mind, what is your favorite video game?
Asia Consent: I love Dead by Daylight; my favorite killer is The Plague. I love the vomit and nastiness of it. I also love cozy games like Stardew Valley.
iHorror: What was the most difficult part of this season for you?
Asia Consent: This is going to sound crazy, but it wasn’t super difficult. I was able to let go and have fun while I was there. Anytime things got hard, I just remembered that we were there to have fun and entertain the fans.
iHorror: If we removed you from the game, who do you think should have won?
Asia Consent: Grey Matter was such a phenomenal competitor. I can’t wait to see what they do in the future. I wouldn’t have been mad with any of the top three. We all deserved to be there.
iHorror: Outside of your own concepts, who had the best look this season?
Asia Consent: One of my favorites is Auntie Heroine’s Jack in the Box look that she performed for the doll challenge. I have never seen a drag look like that, and it was very inspiring. Even though they went home for this look, I think Pi’s Frankenhooker look was a feast for the eyes.
iHorror: Did you have a drag family to help you in the beginning?
Asia Consent: I haven’t had a drag family; I have always been a lone wolf. I was introverted and shy growing up, so I always did things on my own. I would watch YouTube video’s and look at what other people were doing then find ways to make it my own.
iHorror: The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula is known for bringing lesser known artists to the stage. If you could pick three local or lesser known artists to take on tour, who would they be?
Asia Consent: Oh, my goodness, there are so many people I adore. My biggest love is Jawbreaker the Clown. She is someone I have leaned on so much. Also, Christina the Clown has amazing looks. One other person I can think of is Abbi Kadabra, she made some of the merchandise I am selling this season. She is an amazing technical artist. That would be my dream team.
