A Love on the Spectrum fan-favorite cast member, Connor Tomlinson, is leaving the show after three seasons — but what sparked his exit?
On April 1, Season 4 of the docuseries premiered on Netflix to kick off Autism Acceptance Month. The streaming platform just announced that Love on the Spectrum was officially renewed for Season 5. However, it also revealed that Tomlinson would not return after starring in Seasons 2 through 4.
“It is with humility and a heavy heart that I share I will not be partaking in Season 5,” Tomlinson said in a statement to Varietyon April 3.
So, why is Tomlinson leaving Love on the Spectrum? The 27-year-old answered this question in his own words.
“I feel like three seasons is enough to tell my story and find love on my own time,” he explained. “I’ve chosen to pass the torch to the next person who can make it as big as me.”
Tomlinson also shared his plans after leaving the show, adding, “Don’t worry about me — I’m still going to be in the acting business, especially voice work. I’ve always been a huge fan of animation and would love to be involved with a TV show.”’ (In 2025, he appeared in an episode of Brilliant Minds.)
Finally, he expressed how thankful he was for the opportunity to be featured on Love on the Spectrum, telling Variety, “I want to sincerely thank Cian, Sean [Bowman, casting producer], and the entire crew for changing my life over the past three years.”
During an interview with Entertainment Tonightpublished on April 1, Tomlinson reflected on his time on Love on the Spectrum.
When asked what his favorite part about being on the show, Tomlinson replied, “That fact that I’ve made a lot of new friends who I have a lot in common with. And some things I don’t. But I feel like we’ve all grown close.”
He continued, “And the last time I spoke to them, we all made a promise. No matter where life takes us, no matter what we do or whether or not we appear in future seasons of the show, we always stick together. Because at the end of the day, aside from our families, all we on the spectrum have is each other.”
Another cast member who recently exited Love on the Spectrum was Tanner Smith, who appeared in Seasons 2 and 3, but did not return for Season 4.
