Rockstar Games officially announced Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (after it had been leaked) with a teaser trailer that showed nothing of the actual game. The studio has now not only showed the updated titles in motion, but also revealed its release date and what new features it will have. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 11 for $59.99. The physical version will come on December 7 on all platforms except the PS5 and PC.

The trailer shows radically improved visuals, but ones that will still look familiar to their PS2 originals, which is what Rockstar originally promised, more or less. The trailer even conveniently compares the old games against the remasters. The three titles will have higher resolution textures for nearly every aspect, a “completely rebuilt lighting system,” better weather and water effects, more detailed foliage, and better draw distances. The PC version will also have NVIDIA DLSS support and the PS5 and Xbox Series X iterations will have 4K support with up to 60 frames per second performance.

The eShop lists the game at 25.4 GB on the Switch while the Xbox Store approximates that it will be 49 GB. The Switch version will also have Gyro aiming and touch screen support for camera zooming, pans, and its menus.

Rockstar is also changing parts of the game, too. They’ll have controls similar to Grand Theft Auto V, better targeting controls, improved gunplay, more streamlined weapon and radio station wheels, mini-maps that let players set waypoints, and the ability to immediately a mission over upon failure, which should help alleviate frustration. There are also accomplishments in the PC version that will likely just be the same as the achievements and trophies seen on the Xbox and PlayStation.

And while it will be $59.99 for most players, some will be able to play a Grand Theft Auto remaster or two for no extra cost. Grand Theft Auto III will be on PlayStation Now on December 7 while San Andreas launch on Game Pass on November 11. Vice City is the only one not on a subscription service.
