Fans already knew that the upcoming The Batman film would be receiving a PG-13 rating in the United States, but a recent classification of the film in Ireland has hinted at just how close to the line the film will be getting.

Recently, the Irish Film Classification Office has detailed its rating for The Batman. The highly anticipated comic book film will be receiving a 15A rating, which essentially means the film is suitable for anyone over the age of 15 (or 12 if accompanied by an adult).
On the rating’s website, however, it details what to expect from the film, with violence and language listed as “strong” throughout the film, drugs listed as “moderate,” and sex and/or nudity listed as “mild.” While fans already knew that the film would not be Rated R in the United States, this latest classification does give them more of an idea of what to expect when the Robert Pattinson-led film launches on March 4, 2022.

“Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth, Lt. James Gordon — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens,” reads the synopsis.
Joining Pattinson are Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as GCPD’s James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Ferrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin. It will also feature Barry Keoghan, Jayme Lawson, Alex Ferns, and twins Max and Charlie Carver.
In addition to the upcoming film, Reeves is also currently developing two HBO Max series that will be set within the film’s universe. This includes a Gotham City Police project, and Penguin-centered series starring Colin Farrell.
