Once a week, I visit The Row’s website because I love seeing what new bags it releases and making predictions about which will be the next It bag to sell out. One day last month, as I was browsing, I noticed a few new winter bags, including The Sally, and had a good feeling about it—let me tell you why.
The Sally bag features soft, slouchy pebble leather with a fold-over silhouette, a single top handle, and a tasteful concealed button closure. Its design embodies everything The Row represents—timeless elegance and impeccable craftsmanship without the distraction of logos or hardware, appealing to insiders with an irresistible IYKYK allure.
The most surprising detail? Its under-$100 price, which is rare for a The Row bag. This confirmed to me that it would sell out very quickly, and I was right. In just a few days, when I checked the site again, it was completely sold out. I even looked at retailers like Mytheresa and Net-a-Porter—gone.
It seemed that only the most dedicated The Row fans or those with personal shoppers managed to snag one. A few days later, I started seeing the Sally bag on the arms of style icons like Jennifer Lawrence and Dakota Fanning, as well as other chic fashion people that I follow on Instagram, all of whom have enviable collections of The Row handbags. They’ve been carrying it for evenings out because the compact design is perfect for holding essentials— a designer cardholder and a few lipsticks.
If you’re hoping to get your hands on this soft, slouchy top-handle style, I recommend joining the waiting list. But if you’re impatient, like I would be, ahead, I’ve curated a selection of elegant, similar alternatives for you to shop now.
