You know how good Yellowjackets was in its first season? It looks like the Showtime drama is going to be even better in its second.
The first teaser has been released (after a flickering candle on the show’s social channels melted in real time for an hour until dawn broke), and not only does it offer a look at where Natalie (Juliette Lewis) is following her kidnapping at the end of Season 1 — “darkness, we brought it back with us,” she says of their time after the crash — but at life in the wilderness for the teens as they face winter as well.
Plus, after getting a photo of Elijah Wood in his role as citizen detective Walter, we see him in the video alongside Misty (Christina Ricci). “Kidnapping, cults, death. Your friendship are a little more complicated than most,” he remarks. Watch the video above.
Yellowjackets returns for its second season on Friday, March 24 on non-linear platforms and will air on Showtime on Sunday, March 26 at 9/8c. Production is currently underway in Vancouver.
It is equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, telling the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
The series also stars Melanie Lynskey and Tawny Cypress, with Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell joining as series regulars for Season 2. The cast also includes Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves.
