Giorgio Armani Beauty taps Tessa Thompson as its new face

Tessa Thompson, who is currently filming Creed III with Michael B. Jordan and will soon reprise her role as Valkyrie in this year’s Thor: Love and Thunder, has just been named the new face of Giorgio Armani Beauty. Look for her to rep both the Luminous Silk Foundation, which comes in 40 shades, and Lip Power, the brand’s longwear, satin-finish lipstick. Since the former is a mainstay in many pros’ makeups kits, Tessa Thompson says her new role feels like a full circle moment. “When I first started as an actor, I would do my own my own hair and makeup on red carpets, to varying degrees of success! When I had one of my first big movie premieres, I worked with an artist who actually introduced me to Luminous Silk. So, the first time I had my makeup done professionally in Hollywood was with this foundation. It feels very exciting that now there will be women that will be able to look at [me in] an ad and see a version of themselves,” she says.

After two years and a 400K+ waitlist, The Ordinary’s much-loved Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, which famously sells for only $6.50, has re-launched in-stores and online this week. The gentle exfoliating serum is great for those with regular breakouts, but works wonders for all skin types by effectively nixing dead skin cells and decongesting pores. After launching its now best-selling Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum in the U.S. last year, Eadem skincare, created by Marie Kouadio Amouzame and Alice Lin Glover (they met while they were both working at Google), are bringing their much-loved brand of skincare specifically formulated for people of colour to Canada. The serum was scientifically tested on women of colour to fight hyperpigmentation safely, without the risk of altering natural skintone. The star ingredient is amber algae, a unicellular microalgae which is sustainably harvested and proven to only target excess pigment without bleaching the skin, unlike other commonly used “brightening” chemicals.
