Believe it or not, October is upon us. It crept up on you, didn’t it? From Halloween parties to fall foliage peeping, there’s lots of goodness in store this month, but one of the most meaningful things about October is that it marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s sad but true that most people know someone affected by the malignant disease. It’s estimated that one woman gets diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes in the United States alone, and one in eight American women will be diagnosed with it in her lifetime. That’s too many, but researchers get closer to finding a cure every day.

For those of us who aren’t in the STEM field, there’s only so much we can do—and it often feels like not enough. Be informed, be supportive, and be an advocate. In addition, there are plenty of brands that run special promotions throughout October to benefit the cause. It might sound superficial at first, but we all know the power of the dollar.
