‘Evil Dead’ Fans Need to Check Out ‘Death Whisperer 2’ on Netflix

Horror fans have been getting some great movies recently. With films such as Nosferatu and Heart Eyes blowing it out of the water, it looks like it will be a solid year for the genre. That being said, it is important to look past the biggest titles and search for those hidden gems. Below, we have collected five of the best horror movies that may have slipped your attention.

Get Away (Shudder)

Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz) has been a legend in the horror community since the release of Shaun of the Dead back in 2004. However, following the Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy, many people have forgotten what a powerhouse Nick Frost really is.

Luckily, Nick decided to rectify this in late 2024/ early 2025 by releasing three new horror films for us to enjoy. While Black Cab and Krazy House are solid films, Get Away is where Nick Frost truly shines. If you are a fan of folk horror and copious amounts of gore, don’t miss Get Away.

Dark Match (Shudder)

Do you love wrestling? How about super creepy death cults? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, you need to go watch Dark Match. This horror film showcases Chris Jericho (Terrifier 2) as a religious cult leader who obtains his sacrifices via the wrestling ring.

Just the premise alone should be enough to get you through the door. However, if that isn’t enough for you, what if I said it also features over the type gore and huge amounts of violence? Dark Match is just one of the many Shudder films that should be added to your 2025 watch list.

Piglet (VOD)

Love it or hate it, the horrific childhood character adaptations are not going to stop coming. So, if you can’t beat them, might as well join them. This year’s first entry is Piglet. Although you probably don’t need me to tell you what it is about, I am going to anyway.

During her 21st birthday, Kate decides to go on a camping trip with her friends. However, while they are enjoying themselves, the group is attacked by a human pig hybrid known as Piglet. You can probably guess the rest from there. Look, not all horror films need to be deep and have meaning. Sometimes, you just want to watch a pig person kill youngsters on a Friday night.

Grafted (Shudder)

If you are a fan of body horror then this new Shudder film is for you. Grafted follows a young woman who wishes to follow in her father’s footsteps as a researcher. The family’s bloodline has become tainted and each new child is born with a facial birthmark.

As such, the young woman devotes her efforts to creating a grafting technique that will remove the mark permanently. However, once she discovers that she can perfectly graft the skin of others onto herself, things take a dark turn. Grafted is a delightful movie that honors the body horror films of the 80s.

Bystanders (VOD)

This indie film came out of nowhere and has become my favorite film of 2025. Although Bystanders made the rounds at the horror conventions last year, it didn’t get the attention it deserved until it was released on VOD earlier this year.

The film follows a young couple on their way home from a wedding. However, along the way, they discover a group of boys who are actively sexually assaulting and murdering some women. Bystanders managers to be funny, unnerving, and a downright blast. If you haven’t seen this sleeper hit already, go watch it now.
