Jon Hamm‘s dance scene from his Apple TV Plus series has gone viral in an unexpected way, and it is now dominating TikTok in an unforeseen manner. The Mad Men star is appearing on nearly every timeline, and the meme is circulating widely across the platform. Here is the story behind the clip and why the internet cannot seem to stop obsessing over it.
Here’s why Jon Hamm’s dance scene from Your Friends & Neighbors is popular on TikTok
In the past couple of days, a clip of Jon Hamm swaying under blue club lights to a mellow mix of Turn the Lights Off has been circulating on TikTok. In the clip, the veteran actor appears lost in the moment, vibing to the song and giving some moves that are aesthetic and relatable at the same time.
The footage comes from episode eight of Apple TV+’s Your Friends & Neighbors. The episode features this slow, dream-like dance sequence.
However, the one going viral on TikTok is slightly altered. In the meme version, the saturation is lowered, and it is layered with a nostalgic track.
The cinematic sequence has several elements that appeal to a large fanbase. It looks and feels good, features a recognizable face, and fits neatly into modern meme templates. So far, many versions of the template have appeared. From “me entering my delusion era in peace” to “me after finally finishing my last email,” the meme has resonated with a wide audience.
Moreover, Jon Hamm has been part of meme culture for a while. For instance, a picture of Hamm in a movie theatre has been prevalent in the meme community.
As surprising as this viral trend may seem, this is how many memes and trends have developed in 2025, with little context and widely shared emotions.
