The humble basket bag may once have been reserved for week-long sun-drenched holidays or the odd French market stroll, but as 2026 gets underway, it’s clear that woven handbags have become much more than a summer fling. They’re timeless, they’re chic, they’re usually roomy and practical—why shouldn’t we get more wear out of them? Especially now that the best woven bags come in so many variations—from classic raffia to buttery leather and supple suede.
I, for one, rely on my Dragon Diffusion woven tote daily (you’d probably have to surgically remove it from my side if you wanted to see me without it, no matter the season). But it is true that in spring and summer the woven bag really comes to life. Not only making you feel ready for lighter, brighter days, but instantly refreshing your tired winter wardrobe staples in one fell swoop. With April already in full swing—it’s time to make the switch if you haven’t already.
If you’re looking to invest or upgrade in a new style for 2026, I’ve rounded up the very best woven bags to suit any budget below. From high street styles to more premium mid-range and luxury designer buys, all reimagining the classic weave for the new season. There are roomy totes that carry everything from laptops to beach towels and compact styles primed for dinners and event season. I’ve covered off the best raffia (crafted from palm leaves—soft, pliable and durable), straw (made from dried grain stalks with a slightly more structured, polished finish), leather and suede (real and faux) styles. All just as fitting for city commutes as they are for coastal escapes, providing the ultimate spring reset. Scroll on to shop.
