DUPONT’S TAVERN | The Last Of The Mohicans

The forest is covered in a blanket of snow, and our friends stop at a certain Inn by the name of Dupont’s Tavern. Like an oasis, the Inn is unscathed by the war. Here lives Philippe Duppont, an old, nearly blind Frenchman, along with a young Native American by the name of White Doe, who the Frenchman had saved from a massacre in the village of the Delaware. Four loathsome individuals then enter the cabin; all led by “Angel Face” a young man with a handsome countenance, these four provoke and insult White Doe. In the end, a fight breaks out in which the four bullies are kicked out of the tavern. In order to get even, these four kill old Dupont that night, and then set the Inn on fire. However, our friends will then kill 3 out of the 4 of thugs, letting one escape. Mugua will have something to gain from the confusion; he will kidnap Alice as a hostage, and make an escape across a frozen lake. White Doe buries Dupont, and will then join our friends in search of Magua. Meanwhile, Cora has taken refuge in a cabin. A short while later, a wounded man enters, and Cora will succor him. The wounded man turns out to be Angel Face.
