Today is Bandcamp Friday, which means the platform will once again waive its share of revenue for 24 hours. In response to the Supreme Court’s plans to overturn Roe v. Wade—which would allow individual states to outlaw abortion—a number of artists and labels will donate their portions of proceeds to abortion funds around the country. Below is a list of participants donating to various funds and institutions supporting the right to choose.
- Merge Records will donate 100% of digital sales to its artists, as well as match those digital sales and donate the amount to the Carolina Abortion Fund
- Cassandra Jenkins is releasing a new edition of Hard Drive Fund Drive hats with half the profits going to the National Network of Abortion Funds
- Partisan Records (Fontaines D.C., Idles, Chubby and the Gang) will donate its revenue share to the Mississippi Reproductive Freedom Fund
- Dawn Richard is donating to Hip Hop Caucus
- Bikini Kill are donating all of today’s Bandcamp profits to the NNAF
- Son Lux is donating to the Abortion Care Network
- Ninja Tune is donating to the Missouri Abortion Fund
- Joyful Noise Recordings will donate to Hoosier Abortion Fund
- Emily Wells is donating all proceeds from her new album Regards to the End to Indigenous Women Rising
- Bayonet Records—as well as its artists Frankie Cosmos, Beach Fossils, kelz (whose debut album is out today), Bloomsday, and Carlos Truly—will donate its portion to Aid Access via their non-profit arm Women on Waves
- Carpark Records (Chelsea Jade, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, Speedy Ortiz) will donate its portion to the DC Abortion Fund
- Goon have released an EP featuring covers of illuminati hotties, Guided By Voices, Pixies, and Daniel Johnston songs; all proceeds go to Mississippi Reproductive Freedom Fund
- Gabriel Birnbaum and Wilder Maker are donating proceeds to NYAFF (New York Abortion Access Fund)
- Sales from I Speak Machine, Kalbells, rei brown, After the Fall’s Village of Love compilation, and Moon Walker will be directed to Planned Parenthood
- All of the proceeds from Kayleigh Goldsworthy’s album Learning To Be Happy will be donated to Planned Parenthood
- Silent Pendulum Records, which just released This Is Oblivion’s self-titled album, is donating to the National Abortion Fund
- Whatever’s Clever is releasing Sprigs & Sprays, Vol. I: A Benefit Compilation for Reproductive Rights with proceeds going to NNAF
- SUSS are donating to The Center for Reproductive Rights
- Lament Cityscape is donating to Equality Now
- Kevin Devine is donating to Lilith Fund
- All profits from Teens in Trouble’s new song “I’m Not Worried” will be directed to the Carolina Abortion Fund
- Kisskadee is donating proceeds from her debut album Black Hole Era to the Yellowhammer Fund, which helps people in the South.
- Loren Beri is donating to the Texas Equal Access Fund
- Molly Sarlé and Agender are donating to the National Network of Abortion Funds.
- Ken Yates is donating to the Midwest Access Coalition
- Eli Winter’s Live at the Logan Center 3-16-2019 will benefit The Frontera Fund.
- Eric Slick is donating to Abortion Care for Tennessee
- Felte is giving $1 from every album to Noise for Now
Earlier this week, Olivia Rodrigo spoke about abortion rights at her Washington, D.C. concert, saying she was “heartbroken” about the impending legislation. Phoebe Bridgers opened up about her own experience getting an abortion and shared a link to The Cut’s list of abortion funds. Halsey also shared resources, writing: “I cannot stress enough the implications of this moment in history. This is a cruel attack on our fundamental right to choose if and when to have a child.”
