Photographer Misan Harriman shared a new portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s daughter taken in honor of her first birthday. Royal reporter Omid Scobie shared more details about Lili’s private first birthday party, provided by a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess. “For Lilibet’s first birthday, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan invited close friends and family for an ‘intimate backyard picnic’ at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor on Saturday,” Scobie wrote on Twitter. “Claire Ptak (who made the couple’s 2018 wedding cake) baked a special order for the party.”
An Archewell spokesperson confirmed that close family friend Harriman was at the party and took the “candid, spontaneous photograph that the Duke and Duchess are pleased to share today.” The spokesperson added that Meghan and Harry were additionally “amazed” to learn that people globally made over $100,000 in donations amounting to the World Central Kitchen (WCK) in Lili’s honor and extend their gratitude for the support to such a dear organization to them.
Meghan and Harry shared the first glimpse of Lili in their Christmas card. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have chosen to keep Lili and Archie largely out of the public eye. During their visit to the U.K., Meghan and Harry opted not to take Archie and Lili to any public events or around photographers. Instead, Lili met great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II in private on Thursday.
